DAY 1:

Your 5-day tour of the Aeolian Islands will start with your autonomous arrival in Lipari. Check-in is available from 1 pm, but the hotel offers you the option of leaving your luggage earlier.

Stroll through the streets of Lipari and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, dotted with small shops and bars where you can enjoy a refreshing ‘granita‘. Here you can also find characteristic ceramic objects, capers and the characteristic Malvasia liqueur. Explore the Lipari Cathedral, an extraordinary testament to art and history, and the Lipari CastleIts history dates back to prehistoric times and has seen a succession of civilisations over the centuries. From this fortress overlooking the sea, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the island and the surrounding sea. Finally, don’t forget to make a stop at the Geophysical Observatory, from where you can admire one of the most beautiful views of the island, with a panoramic view of most of the Aeolian Islands.

Spend the day visiting Lipari Island by yourself.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

What to see on Lipari Island

  • For the architecture lovers, we recommend the Baroque church of San Giuseppe and the Sanctuary of Maria Santissima della Catena, from whose terrace you can enjoy a panorama that will leave you breathless. For another marvellous view, go to the Quattrocchi viewpoint, from which you can also admire the island of Vulcano.
  • If you are an archaeology lover, don’t miss the Luigi Bernabò Brea Aeolian Archaeological Museum, containing artefacts from different eras found during excavations on the Aeolian Islands.
  • Not far from Marina Corta, you will find the Piazza Arti e Mestieri, nicknamed ‘Sopra la Terra’ (‘Above the Earth’), which has become a tourist attraction for its murals depicting the inhabitants themselves in glimpses of their everyday life.
  • If you want to enjoy relaxing moments by the sea, Lipari has many seaside places. Among the most important are the Spiaggia Bianca and the Spiaggia di Canneto.
  • For those who love nightlife, in the summertime, Lipari offers many opportunities, such as concerts, folklore and theatre festivals, as well as many clubs and discos where theme nights are organised.

DAY 2:

Around 1.30 pm – Departure from the port of Lipari Marina Corta to reach Panarea Island. Starting by skirting Monterosa, you will be able to admire the island of Lipari from the sea. As you approach Panarea, you will admire Calajunco Bay and Cala Zimmari. The panoramic tour will continue among the islets (Basiluzzo, Spinazzola, Lisca Bianca, Dattilo, Bottaro, Lisca) until you reach the port of Panarea, where you will disembark the boat to visit the island by yourself.

What to see on Panarea Island

  • The prehistoric village of Punta Milazzese dates back to the Middle Bronze Age (1500-1300 BC). It can be reached on foot in about 45 minutes or by Panarea’s typical electric taxis.
  • Cala Zimmari, a secluded bay nestled among the rocks. With its crystal-clear waters and characteristic red sand, this corner of paradise will provide you with moments of absolute relaxation and serenity.
  • Cala Junco is one of the most beautiful inlets in the Aeolian archipelago. Here, you will feel as if you are suspended between sky and sea, surrounded by rocks that give it a peculiar U-shape.

In the afternoon, you will leave Panarea to sail to Stromboli. During the navigation, you will admire the picturesque village of Ginostra, isolated from the rest of the island of Stromboli and accessible only by sea. You will then continue on to Strombolicchio, an islet on which stands a lighthouse that was once used for navigation. Once you arrive at the port of Stromboli, you can disembark for an independent tour of the island.

What to see on Stromboli Island

  • Forgia Vecchia beach is a small bay with crystal-clear waters and a relaxing environment.
  • Ficogrande beach is an equipped beach ideal for families.
  • Church of San Vincenzo, from whose square you can admire a beautiful panoramic view.

The tour of Panarea and Stromboli will end at sunset when the boat passes under the Sciara del Fuoco to let you witness from the sea the evocative spectacle of the eruptions that this ever-active volcano gives us.

Return to the port of Lipari Marina Corta is scheduled at around 10.30 pm.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 3:

Your 5-day Aeolian Islands tour will continue with a visit to Salina Island.

9.30 am – Departure from the port of Lipari Marina Corta for a tour of the islands of Lipari and Salina.

The tour of the island will begin by coasting along the island’s most beautiful beaches – the Bay of Canneto and the Spiaggia Bianca (White Beach), so nicknamed because of the imposing white cliff in which it is set and the colour of the seabed. This is, in fact, characterised by the presence of pumice sediments deposited over the years. You can then admire the small village of Acquacalda as the island of Salina, the second largest island of the Aeolian archipelago, begins peering out on the horizon.

Starting to sail along the coast of Salina, you will encounter the small village of Malfa and the natural arch of Punta Perciato, a magnificent arch of lava rock that breaks away from the island and jumps into the sea. Then, you will see the beautiful beach of Pollara, where the film ‘Il Postino: The Postman’ with Massimo Troisi was shot and where you can admire the house where the filming took place.

You will then continue to Santa Marina, where you will stop for an independent tour of the island.

What to see on Salina Island

  • The Church of Santa Marina, an 18th-century church overlooking the harbour square, is famous for its bell towers and majolica floor.
  • The historic centre of Santa Marina, with its picturesque and characteristic narrow streets.

On the way back, you can admire the most beautiful caves around Lipari Island and Vinci Beach, right in front of the famous Faraglioni stacks.

Return to the port of Lipari Marina Corta is scheduled at around 6 pm.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 4:

9.15 am – Reach the port of Marina Corta in Lipari. Here you will embark to be transferred to the island of Vulcano, a land of primordial strength and beauty. Stop for an independent visit.

Enjoy the thermal waters of the Baia delle Acque Calde, immersing yourself in a paradise of relaxation and well-being. Be captivated by the majesty of the Baia delle Sabbie Nere, a unique beach of black sand of volcanic origin. But the adventure doesn’t end there! Get ready for a thrilling ascent to the crater of Vulcano, where you can admire views that will leave you breathless and remain etched in your memory.

On the island it is possible to rent bicycles or scooters, even for a few hours.

What to see on Vulcano Island

  • Vulcanello, a vantage point over Lipari and an excellent location to admire its famous Faraglioni.
  • The Valle dei Mostri (Valley of Monsters), characterised by the presence of lava rocks that, depending on the point of observation and the shadows cast on the ground, form monstrous figures.
  • Baia delle Sabbie Nere, a recommended location for bathing.
  • The old lighthouse at Gelso.
  • Spiaggia dell’Asino, a small bay set in volcanic rock.

2.15 pm* – While sailing, you will be able to admire the island’s beauties, such as Vulcanello, the Grotta degli Angeli and the Grotta del Cavallo, from the sea. Next, you will reach the Gelso village and the Piscina di Venere, a natural pool surrounded by tufa and basalt rocks. This magical place is shrouded in legend. Indeed, it is said that the goddess Venus would dive into these waters every night to regain her lost virginity before joining her husband, the god Vulcan.
Weather and sea conditions permitting, stops will be made in the open sea to allow diving from the boat.

Around 5.30 pm – Return to the port of Lipari Marina Corta.

Overnight stay at the hotel.
