By booking this tour, you’ll have the chance to ascend Mount Etna, a UNESCO-protected volcanic wonder since 2013, and marvel at its natural beauty.

We’ll kick off from Taormina at 7.30 am, heading towards the Alcantara Gorges, an incredible site where the river has sculpted deep gorges into the volcanic rock, creating a truly unique spectacle. While here, with an on-site entrance fee, you can take a stroll along the riverbed and soak in the awe-inspiring power of nature all around you.

Our journey continues aboard the “Circumetnea,” an old-fashioned train that circles the volcano’s perimeter, reaching Adrano to the south. Take in the breathtaking scenery as we pass through quaint villages and the volcanic countryside. From there, a bus will transport us to Rifugio Sapienza, a station situated at 1,900 meters on the volcano’s southern flank. Once there, you’ll have the opportunity to do some gentle trekking, exploring the most recent lava flows and the now-extinct Silvestri craters.

EXTRA route for those who want to continue up to 2,800 metres

For the more daring souls, there’s an EXTRA option to ascend even higher: an optional cable car ride up to 2,500 meters, followed by an exhilarating off-road journey to the crater area at around 2,800 meters. Accompanied by expert Alpine guides from the Italian Alpine Club (CAI), you’ll observe the summit craters’ activity from a safe distance, creating an unforgettable and unique experience. We recommend dressing warmly and wearing appropriate footwear.

The special rate for the Etna excursion, including the ascent up to 2,800 meters, is only applicable with advance booking.

PLEASE NOTE: Ascent to the summit craters is not recommended for individuals with heart conditions, asthma, pregnant women, or infants.

Important information:

• Please arrive well in advance at the departure meeting points. Failure to do so may result in your booking being forfeited without a refund.
• Reservations are required at least five days before the tour.
• If you purchase the basic tour arriving at 1,900 meters (€79 for adults; €45 for children), you will not be entitled to the ascent up to 2,800 meters.
• Those wishing to reach 2,800 meters up to the summit craters with an alpine guide must purchase the supplement to the base ticket under the “Extra” item, adding the required supplement to the cart for each adult and/or child.
