Overview

Be enchanted by the hidden wonders of the Aeolian Islands. Our tour of Lipari and Salina will let you discover hidden corners of paradise only accessible by sea.

Departure from the port of Lipari Marina Corta at 9.30 a.m. The tour of the island will begin by coasting along the island’s most beautiful beaches – the Bay of Canneto and the Spiaggia Bianca (White Beach), so nicknamed because of the imposing white cliff in which it is set and the colour of the seabed. This is, in fact, characterised by the presence of pumice sediments deposited over the years. You can then admire the small village of Acquacalda as the island of Salina, the second largest island of the Aeolian archipelago, begins peering out on the horizon.

Salina is considered the ‘garden of the Aeolian Islands‘ as it is the most fertile island. Here the fine grapes from which Malvasia is obtained and the famous Salina capers exported all over the world are cultivated. Starting to sail along the coast of Salina from Capo Faro, you can admire the lighthouse and the perpendicular walls of rock, marked by various stratifications testifying to the different geological eras. Further along, you will come across the small village of Malfa and the natural arch of Punta Perciato, a magnificent arch of lava rock that breaks away from the island and jumps into the sea. Then, you will see the beautiful beach of Pollara, where the film ‘Il Postino: The Postman‘ with Massimo Troisi was shot and where you can admire the house where the filming took place.

You will then continue to Santa Marina, where you will stop for an independent tour of the island.
The town centre of Santa Marina rises on the slopes of the Fossa delle Felci, the archipelago’s highest peak, also known as the ‘Roof of the Aeolian Islands’, which consists of a huge crater covered by dense vegetation. Santa Marina is the liveliest spot on the island with its small shops, perfect for buying beautiful souvenirs, and typical restaurants where you can enjoy island specialities. Finally, on your way back, be charmed by the most beautiful caves on the island of Lipari and the Vinci beach opposite the Faraglioni.

The tour of Lipari and Salina will end with the return to the Port of Lipari Marina Corta, scheduled for around 5.30 p.m.
