Palermo and Cefalù tour from Taormina

The day begins heading west across the changing landscapes of inland Sicily—mountain ranges, golden plains, and ancient villages seemingly frozen in time. Upon arrival in Palermo, a local guide will lead you through the city’s historic centre, a vibrant mosaic of cultures and styles that tell the story of centuries of conquests, artistry, and rebirths.

You’ll stroll through the Quattro Canti, the Church of La Martorana, Piazza Bellini, Piazza Pretoria, and the majestic Cathedral, before immersing yourself in the scents and colours of “Il Capo,” Palermo’s lively street market. Among stalls piled high with local produce and the sing-song calls of vendors, you’ll catch a glimpse of the city’s most authentic soul.
Those who wish may instead choose an optional visit to Monreale, world-renowned for the golden mosaics that adorn its magnificent Cathedral.

After a lunch break in the heart of Palermo, the journey continues towards Cefalù, a picturesque seaside town where cobbled streets, artisan workshops, and the stunning Norman Cathedral reveal one of Sicily’s most breathtaking Byzantine mosaics: the Christ Pantocrator, a timeless symbol of light and spirituality.
