Get ready to dive into the history and culture of the most authentic Sicily with this full-day tour from Catania to Syracuse, Ortigia and Noto.
A driver will pick you up directly from your accommodation in Catania—or from a designated meeting point of your choice—and take you to your first stop: Syracuse.
The day begins with a visit to the Neapolis Archaeological Park, home to some of the most important monuments of ancient Greek and Roman Syracuse. This site represents the heart of the ancient city, with vast green areas and a path following the old Roman road that leads to remarkable ruins: the Greek Theatre, still used today for classical performances, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Latomia del Paradiso with the famous Ear of Dionysius and the Cave of the Cordari, the Altar of Hieron, and the Church of San Nicolò dei Cordari.
The tour continues with a visit to Ortigia, the historical soul of Syracuse. This charming island weaves together layers of history: from Greek temples to Christian churches, from Swabian and Aragonese palaces to Baroque architecture. As you wander through narrow Arab-influenced alleys, artisan workshops, modest homes and grand piazzas, you’ll discover highlights such as the Aretusa Fountain and the stunning Piazza Duomo, surrounded by elegant noble residences.
After lunch (not included), you’ll head to Noto, a true gem of Sicilian Baroque and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Noto is an open-air museum, and walking along its main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, feels like stepping into a living postcard. You’ll be surrounded by ornate palaces and churches that have earned the city its nickname: the “stone garden”.
At the end of this unforgettable experience, your driver will take you back to your original pickup point in Catania.
