Itinerary

Full program

Vulcano is the island of the archipelago closest to Sicily and is famous for the manifestations of volcanic nature that characterize it, such as mud and underwater fumaroles, known all over the world for the health benefits of the skin and the treatment of rheumatism . But the great protagonist is the Gran Cratere di Vulcano, a unique place, from which you can admire the entire Aeolian archipelago in a single glance and Vulcanello. Our tour will be carried out with the help of an expert volcanological guide. We will start from Vulcano Porto to take the 45-minute path that leads to the Gran Cratere. The path to the summit consists of a walk in nature, following a path surrounded by volcanic boulders and gorse. The summit, in addition to offering a breathtaking view of the sea and the mountains, allows you to experience a "living" mountain, which continues to emit heat and fumes despite the latest eruption dating back to 1980. The only visible manifestations of volcanic activity of the dormant volcano are the fumaroles, mainly composed of sulfur and sulfur dioxide, whose mixture colors the ground with a particular ocher yellow and red color, which contrasts with the black of the ash and the green of the vegetation. Reached the crater, a depression of about 5000 meters in diameter, it will be possible to stop for about half an hour to be able to enjoy this particular and unique panorama. Then we will proceed with the return to the port. * The times will be communicated on the day of departure.
