Alicudi and Filicudi (from Vulcano)

09:30 am departure from the port of Vulcano to make the tour of Alicudi and Filicudi.
The tour will start along the Faraglioni di Lipari until reaching the Grotta del Bue Marino, on the north-western side of the island of Filicudi.
This is the largest cave in the Aeolian Islands and its name derives from the monk seals who lived there in the past.
While sailing we will also meet the suggestive Montenassari, Giafante and Canna stacks, which have now become an unmistakable sign of this island. Specifically, La Canna is an 85-meter high volcanic neck and is surrounded by transparent waters rich in colorful fish.
Arriving at the Port of Filicudi, a two-hour stop will be made for an independent visit of the island. The port area represents the nerve center of the island, where small businesses can be found.
During the stay, we recommend a visit to the prehistoric village of Capo Graziano, whose findings testify to the presence on the island, during the Neolithic period, of a thriving obsidian industry and processing. The ancient quarries of Macine, where there are some remains of millstones.
Here is also the headquarters of the Aeolian Archaeological Museum of Lipari, in Porto, where it is possible to find the finds found in the excavations of the Neolithic village of Capo Graziano and the findings made on the wrecks that surround the island.

In the early afternoon we will leave for Alicudi, the westernmost island of the entire archipelago, which has remained untouched by mass tourism, where a stop of about 2 hours will be made.
In Alicudi it will be possible to enjoy the wild nature and tranquility that distinguish it.

Tips for visiting Alicudi independently:
- San Bartolo, which is located going up from the port at a height of about 330 meters, where there is the church dedicated to San Bartolo, patron of the Aeolian islands.
- Contrada Tonna, composed of a small agglomeration of rural houses, which represent the authentic Aeolian architecture, with steps built with dry stone walls, and the ancient niches of the Via Crucis that testify to the devotion of the islanders.
The return to the port of Vulcano is scheduled around 18.00.
