Overview

The boat tour of Vulcano, Panarea and Stromboli departing from the port of Lipari is perfect for getting the most out of your holiday in the Aeolian archipelago.

Departing from the port of Lipari Marina Corta at 9 a.m. to reach the island of Vulcano, you will sail along Vulcanello, a small promontory connected to the island of Vulcano by an isthmus formed in the 16th century following a volcanic eruption. This strip of land offers a marvellous vantage point over the entire Aeolian archipelago, but its real peculiarity lies in the ‘Valley of the Monsters‘, characterised by the presence of lava rocks that, depending on the point of observation and the shadows cast on the ground, form monstrous figures.

Afterwards, navigation will proceed towards the FaraglioniGrotta degli Angeli and Grotta del Cavallo. You will also admire the Baia delle Sabbie Nere, a beach with characteristic black sand, and the Gran Cratere della Fossa. Next, be captivated by the beauty of the Piscina di Venere, a natural pool surrounded by tufa and basalt rocks. This magical place is shrouded in legend. Indeed, it is said that the goddess Venus would dive into these waters every night to regain her lost virginity before joining her husband, the god Vulcan. You will then continue to Gelso, a small, sparsely populated village surrounded by unspoilt nature.

What to see on Vulcano Island

  • Baia delle Acque Calde is famous for its underwater fumaroles, making it a ‘natural jacuzzi’.
  • Baia delle Sabbie Nere is a characteristic beach of fine black sand with shallow waters.
  • Climb to the crater of Vulcano, a pleasant 45-minute walk among broom, volcanic rocks and ground composed of volcanic dust.

Afterwards, you will set sail for the island of Panarea. During the navigation, you will admire Calajunco Bay and Cala Zimmari. The panoramic tour will continue among the islets (Basiluzzo, Spinazzola, Lisca Bianca, Dattilo, Bottaro, Lisca) until you reach the port of Panarea, where you will disembark the boat to visit the island by yourself.

What to see on Panarea Island

  • The prehistoric village of Punta Milazzese dates back to the Middle Bronze Age (1500-1300 BC). It can be reached on foot in about 45 minutes or by Panarea’s typical electric taxis.
  • Cala Zimmari, a secluded bay nestled among the rocks. With its crystal-clear waters and characteristic red sand, this corner of paradise will provide you with moments of absolute relaxation and serenity.
  • Cala Junco is one of the most beautiful inlets in the Aeolian archipelago. Here, you will feel as if you are suspended between sky and sea, surrounded by rocks that give it a peculiar U-shape.

In the afternoon, you will leave Panarea to sail to Stromboli. During the navigation, you will admire the picturesque village of Ginostra, isolated from the rest of the island of Stromboli and accessible only by sea. You will then continue on to Strombolicchio, an islet on which stands a lighthouse that was once used for navigation. Once you arrive at the port of Stromboli, you can disembark for an independent tour of the island.

What to see on Stromboli Island

  • Forgia Vecchia beach is a small bay with crystal-clear waters and a relaxing environment.
  • Ficogrande beach is an equipped beach ideal for families.
  • Church of San Vincenzo, from whose square you can admire a beautiful panoramic view.

The tour of Vulcano, Panarea and Stromboli will end at sunset when the boat passes under the Sciara del Fuoco to let you witness from the sea the evocative spectacle of the eruptions that this ever-active volcano gives us.

The return to the port of Lipari is scheduled at around 10.30 p.m.
